The Richmond Spiders and the Dayton Flyers meet Saturday in college basketball action from UD Arena. Richmond is currently 11-10 on the year. The Spiders lost to UMass in their last game. Richmond Spiders
Richmond went 9-7 to start out the year, losing to Wichita State, Charleston, Syracuse, Toledo, William & Mary, Clemson and George Mason. The Spiders are 2-3 in the last five with losses to St. Bonaventure, VCU and UMass.
In the UMass matchup on Wednesday, the Spiders were up 37-32 going into the second half. Richmond was drilled 53-39 from there and lost 85-76, however. Tyler Burton doubled up on 20 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat.
Dayton Flyers
Over on the Dayton side, they were 11-5 after 16 games with losses to UNLV, NC State, Wisconsin, BYU and Virginia Tech. The Flyers are also 2-3 in their last five with losses to VCU, George Washington and Rhode Island.
Matched up against Rhode Island on Wednesday, Dayton trailed by five points at the break. The Flyers kept the pace from there on a 43-43 run but still lost 75-70. DaRon Holmes topped the team with 19 points and five rebounds.

I’ll probably stay with Dayton. In their last outing, the Flyers had a sketchy first half against a struggling Rhode Island team that they probably should have beaten. Dayton hasn’t quite looked their best over this current 1-3 stretch, but they’ve still hit 68 or more points in three straight games. As for Richmond, they’ve posted 64 or fewer points in four of the five games during their 2-3 run. I think the Spiders can hang around for a while here, but I don’t think they’ve got the gas for a cover.
