East Carolina vs Tulsa Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/24/23

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the East Carolina Pirates meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Minges Coliseum. Tulsa is 5-13 on the season so far. The Hurricane beat Tulane in their last game on Saturday. As for East Carolina, they’re sitting at 10-10 overall following a loss to Temple back on Wednesday. Tulsa Golden Hurricane 

Tulsa sat at 4-10 after 14 games this year. The only wins came versus Jackson State, Loyola IL, MS Valley State and Central Michigan. Since then it’s been a 1-3 run with losses to Temple, Wichita State and SMU. 

In Saturday’s matchup versus Tulane, Tulsa managed to get another W. The Hurricane scored 36 points in the first, 35 in the second and 10 in overtime for an 81-79 win. Sam Griffin led the team on 23 points and Tim Dalger doubled with 15 points and 13 rebounds. 

East Carolina Pirates

Over on the East Carolina side, they took losses to Indiana State, Old Dominion, SC State, UNC Wilmington and Temple in their first 14 games. The Pirates are 1-5 since then with losses to UCF, Memphis, Cincinnati, South Florida and Temple. 

Matched up against Temple on Wednesday, the Pirates were up 33-28 at halftime. East Carolina was outscored 45-25 in the second half and lost the game 73-58. Quentin Diboundje led the team on 14 points with four rebounds.

I’ll probably take a stab on East Carolina here. Also probably staying away. The Pirates are limping through a five-game losing streak right now, cracking 61 points in just one of those games. It’s been quite the offensive slump for East Carolina, which is in sharp contrast to their solid start this season. That said, Tulsa has plenty of issues themselves. The Hurricane have been giving up points in bunches lately, so if ECU can get the offense moving early I think they’ll be okay.
