Georgetown vs Creighton Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/1/23

The Creighton Bluejays and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Capital One Arena. Creighton is sitting at 13-8 so far this season. The Bluejays beat Xavier in their last game. As for Georgetown, they’re 6-16 overall and coming off a close loss to St. John’s on Sunday. Creighton Bluejays 

Creighton lost to Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, BYU, Arizona State, Marquette and UConn in their first 16 games this year. The Bluejays have gone 4-1 since then, beating Providence, Butler, St. John’s and Xavier in their most recent quartet. 

On Saturday versos Xavier, Creighton jumped out to a 42-28 edge by halftime. The Bluejays kept it up in the second with a 42-39 run in an 84-67 win. Tops in scoring was Arthur Kaluma with 20 points and nine rebounds. 

Georgetown Hoyas 

Over on the Georgetown side, they could only beat Coppin State, Green Bay, La Salle, UMBC and Siena over their first 16 games. The Hoyas are just 1-5 since then with losses to Marquette, Seton Hall, Villanova, Xavier and St. John’s. 

Matched up against St. John’s on Sunday, the Hoyas held a 39-35 lead going into the second half. Georgetown was outpaced 40-34 in the second and lost 75-73 in a tough outcome. Amir Spears led the team on 25 points with two assists.

I’ll probably stick with Creighton in this one. The Bluejays have won four straight games, beating two ranked teams in that time (Providence and Xavier). Creighton has also scored well lately with 73 or more points in five straight outings. As for Georgetown, they haven’t played too badly over their last four outings but they’re just 1-3 in that time. The Hoyas have hit 73 or more points in four straight, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a fairly high total here. Should still be a Creighton cover, though.
