The Eastern Kentucky Colonels and the Indiana State Sycamores meet Monday in CBI Tournament college basketball action from Ocean Center. Eastern Kentucky is 21-13 on the year. The Colonels beat Cleveland State in overtime on Sunday. As for Indiana State, they’re 23-12 overall and coming off a win over USC Upstate. Eastern Kentucky Colonels

Eastern Kentucky managed a 19-12 record over the course of the regular season. The Colonels would then beat North Alabama 73-48 in their first game of the Atlantic Sun Tournament. Eastern Kentucky took a tough loss 79-73 to Liberty in the next installment however.

In the Sunday tournament matchup versus Cleveland State, the Colonels scored 32 points in the first half and 42 more in the second. After a busy 17 points in overtime, Eastern Kentucky ended up with a 91-75 victory. Tops in scoring was Devontae Blanton with 22 points and three rebounds.

Indiana State Sycamores

Over on the Indiana State side, they hit a 20-11 run across the regular season, ending with a pair of losses to Belmont and Missouri State. The Sycamores beat Evansville and Belmont in the conference tournament then lost to Bradley 71-70 on March 4.

In their CBI matchup versus USC Upstate, the Sycamores were up 35-34 going into the second half. Indiana State was able to hang on with a 32-28 run from there and won 67-62. Leading team scorer Courvoisier McCauley doubled on 20 points and 11 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Indiana State. Also probably not touching this one, though. The Sycamores weren’t super impressive versus USC Upstate in their last matchup, but they got the job done. Indiana State hit 44.6 percent from the field but got out-muscled 12-5 on the offensive glass and had 15 turnovers. Prior to that, the Sycamores had hit 70 or more points in three straight games. As for Eastern Kentucky, they shot 49.3 percent from the field in the win over Cleveland State on Sunday, along with a nice 50-29 rebounding advantage (20-10 offensive). The Colonels cut it really close in that one though, and I don’t think they’ll be able to tame Indiana State in quite the same way.

Andrew's Free Pick: Indiana State Sycamores -5.5
