Jackson State vs Alabama A&M 1/9/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Jackson State Tigers meet Monday in college basketball action from Williams Assembly Center. Alabama A&M is 6-10 so far this year. The Bulldogs lost to Alcorn State in their last game. As for Jackson State, they’re 3-12 and fresh off a win over Alabama State. Alabama A&M went 4-6 over their first 10 games this year, beating UT Southern, Fisk, Lipscomb and Rust. The Bulldogs have since gone 2-4 with losses to Illinois, Vanderbilt, Ohio State and Alcorn State. 

In the Alcorn State game on Saturday, the Bulldogs trailed 45-31 going into the second half. Alabama A&M scored 45 points from there but couldn’t come back in an 89-76 loss. Tops in scoring was Dallin Smith with 15 points and three assists. 

Over on the Jackson State side, they started out the year at just 1-12. The lone win came December 3 over SMU. The Tigers have won their last two consecutive outings versus Alcorn State and Alabama State, however. 

Matched up against Alabama State on Saturday, the Tigers were up 31-28 at the break. Jackson State kept the pace with 30 points from there and won it 61-58. Coltie Young manage to double up with 17 points and 10 boards. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with Alabama A&M. The Bulldogs didn’t play particularly well against a struggling Alcorn State team on Saturday however, so they’ll need a bounce-back effort here. Alabama A&M has been a mixed bag scoring-wise, but they’ve posted 66 or more points in three straight and should hang a decent total here. As for Jackson State, they’re looking much better over their last couple of games and could give Alabama A&M some trouble if they get off to a good start. It’ll be an interesting matchup.
