James Madison vs Georgia State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/24/23

The Georgia State Panthers and the James Madison Dukes meet Friday in college basketball action from Atlantic Union Bank Center. Georgia State is coming off a Wednesday game versus Appalachian State. In that one the Panthers fell in a blowout. As for James Madison, their Wednesday matchup was against Marshall. The Dukes went on to lose by nine points. Georgia State Panthers 

Georgia State had a sketchy opening to the season, going 9-11 over their first 20 outings. The Panthers hit a rough 1-7 run over the next eight, falling to App State, Marshall, Southern Miss, Old Dominion, Marshall again, Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State. 

In the Wednesday game versus App State, Georgia State was drilled 42-25 in the first half alone. The Panthers trailed 36-27 the rest of the way in a blowout loss 78-52. Brenden Tucker put up 19 points in 32 minutes to lead the team. 

James Madison Dukes 

Over on the James Madison side, they hit a 14-8 run over their first 22 games. The Dukes managed a nice 6-1 record in the next seven featuring wins over LA-Monroe, Old Dominion, App State, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion again and Louisiana. 

Matched up against Marshall on Wednesday, the Dukes kept the pace in the first half with a 52-51 deficit. James Madison didn’t end up getting closer and fell 92-83, though. Terrence Edwards was the top scorer on 26 points and 11 boards. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m probably going to stick with James Madison. The Dukes didn’t play particularly well at home versus a tricky Marshall team on Wednesday, but they’re still 3-1 in their last four and they’ve scored 73 or more points in five straight outings. These teams last met up back on December 29 at Georgia State Convocation Center. That one ended up a 63-47 win for the Dukes. Georgia State is on a rough six-game losing skid and this is going to be another tough matchup.
