Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns managed a 19-5 record over their first 24 games of the year. Texas hit a 4-3 run in the final seven, beating West Virginia, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Kansas in that time. The Longhorns took out Oklahoma State 61-47 in the first game of the tournament.

On Friday in the tournament matchup versus TCU, the Longhorns were up 34-26 in the locker room. Texas scored another 32 points from there in a 66-60 victory. Both Dylan Disu and Christian Bishop scored 15 points each to lead the team.

Kansas Jayhawks

Over on the Kansas side, they got through their first 24 games this year at 19-5 overall. The Jayhawks beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, West Virginia and Texas Tech before a loss to Texas. Thursday was a tournament victory over West Virginia 78-61.

On Friday in the tournament matchup against Iowa State, Kansas held a 33-25 edge going into the second half. The Jayhawks posted a 38-33 advantage from there in a 71-58 victory. Jalen Wilson doubled up in the win with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with Kansas. It’s been a good run for the Jayhawks lately, outside of the road loss to Texas 75-59 last weekend. Kansas has scored 67 or more points in each of their last four victories, and if they can finish in the 70s here I think they’ll be in good shape. These teams have met twice before this year, with the home team winning each time. Kansas took a victory 88-80 on February 6, then Texas struck back on a 75-59 win on March 4 at Moody Center. Texas has held opponents to 60 or fewer points in three straight outings so Kansas will have to get to work quickly here. I like the Jayhawks to pull it off during a competitive and entertaining matchup.
