The Bucknell Bison and the Lafayette Leopards meet Sunday in college basketball action from Kirby Sports Center. Bucknell is 7-8 overall so far. The Bison lost to Lehigh in their last game. As for Lafayette, they’re 2-14 following a loss to Boston U on Thursday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Bucknell went 6-4 over their first 10 games, losing to Saint Peter’s, Georgia, Marist and La Salle along the way. The Bison are just 1-5 in their last six with losses to Richmond, Rutgers, Holy Cross, Boston U and Lehigh.

In the Lehigh game Thursday, the Bison trailed 34-26 by the break. Bucknell didn’t end up getting any closer and lost 72-64. Alex Timmerman led the team on a double-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Over on the Lafayette side, they went just 1-11 through their first 12 outings, beating only Central CT State on November 19. After a win over La Salle, the Leopards have lost to American, Army and Boston U.

On Thursday in the Boston U matchup, Lafayette lost a one-point halftime lead and ended up going to overtime. The Leopards were outscored 11-7 from there in a 73-69 defeat. Eric Sondberg led the way on 20 points in 32 minutes.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Lafayette. Probably not going near this one, though. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved here but it could very well be a competitive game. Lafayette is playing marginally better over their last four games and this matchup should be in their conceivable wheelhouse. The Bison are riding a five-game losing streak and have scored 64 or fewer points in four straight outings. I think Lafayette has a decent cover shot in this one.
