LIU vs Central CT State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/22/23

The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils and the Long Island University Sharks meet Sunday in college basketball action from Steinberg Wellness Center. Central CT State enters this game at 4-15 overall. The Blue Devils lost to Wagner in their last outing. As for LIU, they’re 2-17 after a loss to Stonehill on Friday. Central CT State Blue Devils 

Central CT State went just 2-12 over their first 14 games, with wins over only Dartmouth and Manhattan. The Blue Devils are 2-3 in their last five with wins over St. Francis BK and LIU before losses to Stonehill, FDU and Wagner. 

Matched up against Wagner on Friday, the Blue Devils were outscored 28-16 in the first half. Central CT State posted a 44-34 deficit in the second and lost 72-50. Andre Snoddy doubled up on 14 points and 18 rebounds in the defeat. 

LIU Sharks

Over on the LIU side, they won just two of their first 12 games this year, November 14 versus Mount St. Vincent and December 22 versus Purchase. The Sharks have lost to St. Francis PA, St. Francis BK and Stonehill in the last trio. 

On Friday versus Stonehill, the Sharks were down 44-33 going into the second half. LIU posted a 33-28 advantage from there but it wasn’t enough in a 73-66 loss. Both Marko Maletic and Andre Washington posted 17 points each.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going with Central CT State. Granted, there’s not a whole lot of intrigue involved in this game; there are only a combined six wins here. That said, it should be a fairly competitive matchup. The last time these teams met on January 5 was a 78-59 win for Central CT State at Detrick Gymnasium. This one’s probably going to be closer, but I still think the Blue Devils pull off the cover in the end.
