The Stonehill Skyhawks and the Long Island University Sharks meet Friday in college basketball action from Steinberg Wellness Center. Stonehill is 7-13 overall this year. Stonehill Skyhawks
Stonehill won four of their first 14 games this year, beating Army, Holy Cross, Binghamton and Eastern Nazarene. The Skyhawks are 3-3 since then with wins over Sacred Heart, Wagner and Central CT State in that time.
In Monday’s matchup versus Fairleigh Dickinson, the Skyhawks took a 30-25 deficit into the second half. Stonehill was outscored 35-32 from there and lost 65-57. Isaiah Burnett led the team on 20 points and eight boards.
LIU Sharks
Over on the LIU side, they were 2-12 over their first 14 games with wins over only Mount St. Vincent and Purchase. Since then it’s been losses to Central CT State, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis PA and St. Francis BK.
In the St Francis BK game on Monday, the Sharks took a two-point deficit into the second half. LIU was outpaced 39-34 from there and lost 73-66. Quion Burns was the top team scorer on 19 points with nine rebounds.

I suppose I’m staying with Stonehill. Probably not touching it, though; there’s not a whole lot to get excited about in this one. That said, Stonehill could really use a kick in the proverbial pants on offense; they’ve hit 62 or fewer points in four straight outings. The Skyhawks seem to score better in favorable matchups this year, so they should have some opportunities against Long Island U. The Sharks have given up 73 or more points in five straight games during this current losing streak.
