Morgan State vs Norfolk State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/23/23

The Norfolk State Spartans and the Morgan State Bears meet Monday in college basketball action from Hill Field House. Norfolk State is 13-6 so far. The Spartans beat Coppin State in their last game. Norfolk State Spartans

Norfolk State went 9-5 over their first 14 games, losing to Baylor, UCLA, Houston, Old Dominion and Nevada. The Spartans are 4-1 in their last five outings with wins over PSU Wilkes-Barre, MD Eastern Shore, Delaware State and Coppin State.

In the Coppin State game on Saturday, the Spartans were up 49-24 by halftime. Norfolk State posted a 47-41 run from there and won 96-65 in blowout fashion. Kris Bankston managed to double up with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. 

Morgan State Bears 

Over on the Morgan State side, they beat Penn State Greater Allegheny, Utah Valley, VA Lynchburg, PSU Wilkes-Barre, Hartford and Goucher in their first 14 games. The Bears are 4-1 since then with a lone loss to Howard. 

In the Howard game, the Bears were outscored 41-32 in the first half. Morgan State was drilled 47-24 in the second half for an 88-55 loss. Isaiah Burke was the top team scorer with 21 points and seven rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Norfolk State. The Spartans are looking pretty good over this 4-1 run; they’ve hit 78 or more points in four of those five outings. Norfolk State hasn’t had a lot of trouble scoring in comparable matchups this season and should do well here. As for Morgan State, they had a bad game against Howard on Saturday but they’d hit 78 or more points in five straight games prior to that. We could have a high-scoring matchup here but ultimately I like Norfolk State a little better cover-wise.
