The San Jose State Spartans and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Lawlor Events Center. San Jose State is 16-11 on the year so far. The Spartans lost to New Mexico in their last outing. As for Nevada, they’re 20-7 this season after a loss to Utah State on Saturday. San Jose State Spartans

San Jose State had an up-and-down start this season, going 12-8 over their first 20 games. The Spartans have since hit a 4-3 stretch with wins over Air Force, Wyoming, Utah State and UNLV. The losses came to San Diego State, Fresno State and New Mexico.

In the New Mexico matchup on Friday, the Spartans were outscored 50-31 in the first half. San Jose State didn’t get any closer in a 96-68 loss. Omari Moore was the leading team scorer with 18 points and four rebounds in the defeat.

Nevada Wolf Pack

Over on the Nevada side, they started out 15-5 over the course of their first 20 games. The Wolf Pack are a solid 5-2 in their last seven with wins over New Mexico, San Diego State, Air Force, New Mexico and Fresno State in that time.

On Saturday versus Utah State, Nevada went into the locker room with a 47-32 edge. The Wolf Pack fell apart on a 43-19 second-half run however, and lost 75-66. Will Baker was the top scorer on the team with 25 points and six rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Nevada in this one. The Wolf Pack had a pretty miserable second half in their last game versus a talented Utah State team, so they’ll need to get off to a quick start in this one to erase the memory. Even with that loss, Nevada is still playing well lately with 72 or more points in four of their last five. These teams last saw each other back on January 7 at Event Center Arena in a 67-40 Nevada road victory. The Wolf Pack went into halftime with a 32-15 edge in that one and never let up. This rematch may not be so one-sided but I still like Nevada cover-wise in a good bounce-back game.
