North Dakota State vs South Dakota 1/7/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The South Dakota Coyotes and the North Dakota State Bison meet Saturday in college basketball action from Scheels Center. South Dakota is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus North Dakota. In that one the Coyotes eked out a two-point victory. As for North Dakota State, they played South Dakota State in their Thursday matchup. The Bison won that game by six points. South Dakota went 5-5 over their first 10 games this year, losing to Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Sam Houston, Coastal Carolina and Air Force. The Coyotes would lose three straight before wins versus St. Thomas MN and Western Illinois. 

In the Thursday matchup versus North Dakota, the Coyotes were up 30-26 going into the second half. South Dakota was outscored 34-32 from there but ended up winning 62-60. Kruz Perrott-Hunt led the way on 15 points with four rebounds. 

Over on the North Dakota State side, they were 2-8 over their first 10 games with wins over only Crown College and Portland. The Bison went 2-3 over the next five with losses to Montana, Western Illinois and St. Thomas MN. 

On Thursday in the South Dakota State game, North Dakota State took a 27-27 tie into the second half. The Bison posted a 38-32 run from there and won it 65-59. Andrew Morgan doubled up on 24 points with 13 rebounds in the victory. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with South Dakota in this one. Also probably not touching it, though. The Coyotes have notched some nice points totals over this 3-3 stretch; 71 or more in four of the six games. That said, South Dakota also has some dud outings on the card over the last month or so. On paper, South Dakota should be able to stay with North Dakota State. The Bison are coming off a nice win over South Dakota State and they’ll give Coyotes some trouble if they’re playing well, however.
