The Syracuse Orange and the Pitt Panthers meet in college basketball action from the Petersen Events Center on Saturday. Let’s dive into the odds, injuries, matchup history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Pitt is listed as a 5.5-point home favorite with a total of 144.5 points.

Injuries

For Syracuse, Peter Carey is the lone name on the list, out for the season with a knee injury. For Pitt, KJ Marshall is the latest name on the list as he’s questionable for this game with an undisclosed injury.

Matchup History

Pitt’s 84-82 win over Syracuse back on December 20th, 2022, made it back-to-back wins and wins in four of the last five meetings between these two teams.

Trends

Syracuse is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games while the over is 14-6 in their last 20 games overall. Pitt is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games following an ATS loss.

Pick

I’m backing the Panthers here. I just don’t trust the Orange right now as Syracuse is starting to fall apart at the worst time for their tournament hopes. At this point, I think without an ACC tournament title, Syracuse can kiss the postseason goodbye. On the other side, Pitt is one of the first four byes according to a lot of the latest reports, and I think they’ll want to give themselves a lot more concrete positioning in the tournament field, and a lackluster performance wouldn’t do that. I’ll side with the Panthers laying the points.
