Princeton vs Cornell Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/3/23

Cornell Big Red

Cornell went 12-4 over their first 16 games this year, losing to only Boston College, Miami-FL, Syracuse and Princeton in that time. the Red are 3-1 in their last four with wins over Yale, Columbia and Brown. 

In the Brown matchup back on Saturday, Cornell trailed 35-33 going into the second half. The Big Red posted a 47-38 run from there and won it 80-73 in comeback fashion. Chris Manon led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds. 

Princeton Tigers

Over on the Princeton side, they managed a 12-4 run over their first 16 games. The Tigers lost to Navy, Hofstra, Delaware and Iona in that time. The Tigers are 2-2 over the last four games with losses to Brown and Yale. 

Matched up against Yale in Saturday’s game, the Tigers held a 36-35 edge at the break. Princeton couldn’t keep up on a 52-29 deficit from there however and lost 87-65. Both Blake Peters and Tosan Evbuomwan posted 15 points apiece. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably lean toward Princeton here. The Tigers have been a little shaky over their last four games however (especially the 22-point loss to Yale on Saturday) so I’ll probably keep away from it. That said, Princeton managed a 75-68 victory back on January 7 when these teams last met at Newman Arena. The Tigers got better after halftime (41 points) in that one, and they’re going to need to play another complete game in order to pull out a cover here. Cornell won’t make it easy, so we should have a pretty good matchup on our hands.
