Rhode Island vs Davidson Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 3/4/23

The Davidson Wildcats and the Rhode Island Rams meet Saturday in college basketball action from Ryan Center. Davidson comes into this one at 14-15 overall. The Wildcats lost to George Washington in their Wednesday game. As for Rhode Island, they’re 9-20 after a win over Loyola IL in their last appearance. Davidson Wildcats 

Davidson managed a 10-12 run over their first 22 games this year. The Wildcats are 4-3 since then with wins over UMass, Saint Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure and Duquesne alongside losses to Fordham, Saint Louis and George Washington in that time. 

Back on Wednesday versus George Washington, Davidson held a 32-26 edge at the break. The Wildcats faltered on a 49-38 second-half deficit though and lost 75-70. Sam Mennenga led the team on 23 points and eight rebounds. 

Rhode Island Rams 

Over on the Rhode Island side, they were only 8-13 at the 21-game mark this year. The Rams would then lose to Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis, George Mason, VCU, Umass, George Washington and Fordham before another win over Loyola. 

Matched up against Loyola on Wednesday, the Rams were in the locker room with a 44-37 edge. Rhode Island had to scramble on a 40-35 second-half deficit but still won 79-77 Ishmael Leggett topped the team on 20 points and seven boards. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Davidson. The Wildcats had a bad second half against George Washington on Wednesday, but they’d previously won three straight games. Davidson’s offense is still working pretty well with 70 or more points in four straight outings. As for Rhode Island, they managed a much-needed win over Loyola in their last game. The Rams have been on a nice scoring run themselves with 71 or more in three consecutive outings, so this one could end up as a high-scoring total. I like Davidson a little better cover-wise, though.
