Saint Louis vs St. Bonaventure 1/7/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Saint Louis Billikens meet Saturday in college basketball action from Chaifetz Arena. St. Bonaventure is 8-7 overall this season. The Bonnies beat George Mason in their last game. As for Saint Louis, they’re sitting at 9-6 this year after a loss to UMass on Wednesday. St. Bonaventure went 6-4 over their first 10 games this year, losing to Canisius, SD State, Buffalo and Iona along the way. The Bonnies are 2-3 since then with losses to FGCU, Siena and Northern Iowa. 

On Wednesday versus George Mason, the Bonnies took a 33-29 edge into the second half. St. Bonaventure scored another 40 points from there and won it 73-69. Daryl Banks led the way on 27 points with four rebounds. 

Over on the Saint Louis side, they hit a 7-3 run to start the season featuring losses to Maryland, Auburn and Iona. The Billikens have hit a 2-3 stretch in their last five with wins over Drake and Saint Joseph’s. 

Matched up against UMass on Wednesday, the Billikens took an 11-point deficit into halftime. Saint Louis hit a 52-50 advantage in the second but still lost 90-81. Yuri Collins led the team on a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with St. Bonaventure here. The Bonnies had a sketchy run during that three-game losing streak during December, but they’ve looked better over the last two games. St. Bonaventure has hit 70 or more points in three of their last four outings and should be okay here if they can get to that level. As for Saint Louis, they should provide a worthwhile opponent in this one and it should be a good matchup. I ultimately like the Bonnies better on a potential cover, though.
