Matched up against Southern Utah on Saturday, the Lumberjacks faced a 31-29 deficit going into the second half. Stephen F. Austin didn’t get any closer in a 67-58 loss. AJ Cajuste led the team on 11 points with three rebounds. 

Sam Houston State Bearkats 

Over on the Sam Houston State side, they were 11-3 after 14 games with losses to Nevada, Oklahoma State and Utah Valley. The Bearkats are 2-2 in their last four with losses to Grand Canyon and Southern Utah. 

Back on Saturday in the Utah Tech game, Sam Houston State held a six-point lead by halftime. The Bearkats kept it going with a 43-24 run from there and won 78-53. Qua Grant was tops on the team with 15 points and five assists.

I’m going to stay with Sam Houston State. You could probably make a case either way in this one, though; it should be a competitive game. In any case, the Bearkats have scored well lately; they’ve hit 68 or more points in five straight games. Sam Houston State has given up 68 or more points in three of those games however, so Stephen F. Austin should have some room to score. I like this one to be a fairly high-total affair with Sam Houston State eking out a cover. Should be a fun one to watch.
