The Pacific Tigers and the San Francisco Dons meet Friday in West Coast Tournament college basketball action from Orleans Arena. Pacific is 15-17 overall this season. The Tigers beat Pepperdine in their tournament game Thursday. As for San Francisco, they’re sitting at 18-13 after a loss to BYU back on Saturday. Pacific Tigers

The Tigers went .500 through 24 games this year, coming up with a 12-12 record to start. Pacific went a sketchy 2-5 to finish off the regular season, listing to BYU, Portland, San Francisco, LMU and St. Mary’s with wins over San Diego and Portland otherwise.

In the Thursday West Coast Tournament matchup versus Pepperdine, the Tigers carved out a 44-31 halftime edge. Pacific got through the second half with a 40-40 run and took the victory 84-71 to move on. Keylan Boone led the team with his 25 points and five rebounds.

San Francisco Dons

Over on the San Francisco side, they put up a 15-9 run through their first 24 outings of the year. The Dons have since gone a sketchy 3-4 with losses to St. Mary’s, Santa Clara, Gonzaga and BYU alongside wins over Pepperdine, Pacific and Portland.

Back on Saturday versus BYU, San Francisco went into the break with a 40-27 deficit. The Dons fell further behind on a 47-34 run from there and fell in a blowout 87-61. Khalil Shabazz was the only team double-digit scorer on 21 points.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with San Francisco here. The Dons had a three-game win streak going before the BYU loss, scoring 76 or more points in each of those outings. It’s been a full week since San Francisco has been on the court, so a good start in this tournament matchup will go a long way. The Dons won both meetings between these teams: 78-57 at home on January 19 and 76-68 at Alex G. Spanos Center on February 16. Pacific has scored well all year, so it’s going to take a solid offensive effort to power out the cover in this one. I think the Dons will get it done in a competitive matchup.

Andrew's Free Pick: San Francisco Dons -7.5
