Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
Louisiana got off to a pretty good start and managed a 12-4 run over their first 16 games this year. The Cajuns are 8-0 since then, beating LA-Monroe, South Alabama, Arkansas State, Texas State, Troy, Georgia Southern, Texas State again and Marshall.
In the Marshall matchup on Saturday, the Cajuns were up 36-28 by halftime. Louisiana managed a 41-39 run in the second half and won it 77-67. Jordan Brown went off for 26 points and 20 rebounds to lead the way.
Southern Miss Golden Eagles
Over on the Southern Miss side, they were a nice 13-3 over their first 16 games this year. The Eagles have since gone 8-1 with wins over LA-Monroe, Arkansas State, South Alabama, James Madison, Arkansas State again, Texas State, Troy and Georgia State.
Matched up against Georgia State on Saturday, the Eagles were down 34-30 in the locker room. Southern Miss posted a 49-37 run in the second half for the comeback win 79-71. Felipe Haase was the top team scorer on 26 points.

I’m going to take a stab on Louisiana. You could probably make a good case either way here, though; it’ll be a great matchup. In any case, the Cajuns are rolling right along on this current 10-game winning streak. They’ve hit 72 or more points in nine of those games and are playing well on both sides of the ball. The last time these teams met up, Louisiana secured a 75-61 win at the Cajundome back on January 5. Southern Miss will get a lift from the home crowd this time, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a high-scoring game that comes down to the wire here. Should be a great matchup to watch.
