Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas managed a pretty nice 18-4 record through their first 22 games this year. The Jayhawks would then lose to Iowa State before beating Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, West Virginia and Texas Tech in succession.

On Tuesday versus Texas Tech, Kansas carved out a 30-21 edge by halftime. The Jayhawks were outscored 42-37 from there but hung on to win 67-63. Leading the team in scoring was Jalen Wilson on 21 points and five rebounds in the victory.

Texas Longhorns

Over on the Texas side, they went 18-4 through their first 22 games this year as well. The Longhorns are are a sketchy 4-4 since then with wins over Kansas State, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Iowa State alongside losses to Kansas, Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU.

On Wednesday versus TCU, the Longhorns were down 44-32 heading into the second half. Texas hit a 41-31 run from there to make it interesting but still lost 75-73. Jabari Rice was the high man on 16 points and four assists.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to take a stab on Texas. A bit of the luster has worn off this game thanks to the Longhorns’ consecutive losses. That said, it should still be a fun one to watch as well as a competitive matchup. Texas has won seven straight home games; the last time they fell at Moody Center was back on January 3 versus Kansas State. The Longhorns were able to hang around with Kansas pretty well the last time these teams met up on February 6 at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas took a 42-35 halftime lead in that one and ended up winning 88-80. I like Texas to regroup and post a solid effort here in an eventual cover. It’ll be interesting.
