Texas vs Kansas State 1/3/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Kansas State Wildcats and the Texas Longhorns meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Moody Center. Kansas State is 12-1 overall this year. The Wildcats beat West Virginia in their last game. As for Texas, they’re 12-1 as well following a win over Oklahoma on Saturday. Kansas State won six straight games this year before their lone loss to Butler. Since then it’s been wins over Wichita State, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word, Nebraska, Radford and West Virginia. 

In the West Virginia game, the Wildcats were down 32-21 by halftime. Kansas State fought back in the second and ended up winning it in overtime 82-76. Marquis Nowell led the way on 23 points with eight assists and three rebounds. 

Over on the Texas side, they also won six straight this year before their first loss to Illinois. The Longhorns have since beaten AR-Pine Bluff, Rice, Stanford, Louisiana, Texas A&M-Commerce and Oklahoma. 

Matched up against Oklahoma on Saturday, the Longhorns trailed 35-31 at the break. Texas stormed back with a 39-34 second half and took the comeback win 70-69. Both Marcus Carr and Timmy Allen put up 13 points apiece. 

PICK: I’ll probably try Kansas State in this one. We should have a pretty great matchup here, though. Kansas State posted a gutsy win over West Virginia in their last outing and they’ve been scoring well lately. The Wildcats have managed 71 or more points in five straight outings and they’ll need every bit of it here. As for Texas, they had a bit of a scare against Oklahoma but everything worked out. The Longhorns have hit 70 or more points in all 13 games this year, so the Wildcats will need a big push to keep pace. I think Kansas State can do it.
