Buffalo Bulls
The Bulls hit a 10-10 run over their first 20 games of the season. Since then it’s been a sketchy 2-5 stretch for Buffalo featuring losses to Kent State, Akron, Kent State again, Ohio, Akron and Central Michigan. The wins came versus Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
In the Central Michigan game on Tuesday, the Bulls stormed out to a 36-14 halftime edge. Buffalo hit a 27-21 run in the second half, cruising to the win 63-35. Curtis Jones posted 14 points with five assists and four rebounds to lead the way.
Toledo Rockets
Over on the Toledo side, they stood at 14-6 at the 20-game mark. The Rockets have kept it rolling since then with wins over Bowling Green, Miami OH, Central Michigan, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Miami OH, Bowling Green and Akron in succession.
On Tuesday versus Akron, Toledo didn’t have a ton of trouble. The Rockets posted a 37-24 first-half run and a 47-39 advantage in the second for an 84-63 victory. Both JT Shumate and Setric Miller scored a team-high 20 points.

I’m going to stick with Toledo. The Rockets are on a great run these days and coming off a fairly uncomplicated win over a pretty good Akron team. That makes 12 straight wins with 70 or more points scored in each game for the Rockets. Toledo last saw Buffalo on January 20 at UB Alumni Arena. The Rockets posted a 46-39 first half in that one and ended up powering out the 86-77 victory. I like Toledo to keep it going in this home rematch and notch a cover.
