Cal State Fullerton got through their first 24 games this year at 12-12 overall. The Titans would then beat UC Riverside, Hawaii, UC San Diego, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara and CSU Bakersfield to close out the schedule. CSU Fullerton beat Hawaii in Thursday’s tournament matchup.
On Friday in tournament activity versus UC Irvine, the Titans were tied up at 39-39 going into the second half. Cal State Fullerton hit a 44-41 advantage from there for the upset win 83-80. Leading scorer Latrell Wrightsell put up 22 points with three rebounds.
UC Santa Barbara Gauchos
Over on the UC Santa Barbara side, they were 20-4 by the 24-game mark this season. The Gauchos beat Long Beach State, UC San Diego, UC Davis and Hawaii over the final four games of the year, then beat Cal Poly in tournament activity on Thursday.
On Friday in the tournament matchup versus UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara faced a 42-39 deficit at the break. The Gauchos rallied on a 53-45 run from there and won 92-87. Ajay Mitchell led the team with his 28 points and seven assists.

I’ll probably try CSU Fullerton in this one. The Titans are coming off a nice victory over UC Irvine, and that makes eight straight victories dating back to February 4. CSU Fullerton has scored 70 or more points in five of their last six games as well. These teams have met twice already, with the home team taking the win each time. UC Santa Barbara got a victory 66-58 on December 29, then Cal State Fullerton took the win 74-60 on February 20. This should be a pretty fun matchup all things considered, and I like the Titans to pull it off. It’ll be a close one.
