Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado kicked off the season on an 11-7 run across their first 18 games. The Buffaloes have gone a sketchy 3-4 over the last seven with losses to UCLA, Washington, Oregon and Oregon State alongside wins over Washington State, California and Stanford.
In the Stanford game on Sunday, the Buffaloes took a 39-39 tie into the locker room. Colorado hit a dominant 45-23 run in the second half and took the win 84-62. Leading the scoring was Tristan da Silva with 25 points and four rebounds.
Utah Utes
Over on the Utes’ side, they managed a decent 12-6 run in their first 18 outings of the year. Utah has hit a 4-3 run over the last seven, beating Washington State, Washington, Oregon State and California during that time.
Back on Sunday versus California, Utah was up 29-24 going into the second half. The Utes kept it going from there on a 32-22 run and won it 61-46. Lazar Stefanovic posted 15 points and Branden Carlson doubled on 12 points and 13 rebounds in that one.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably take a stab on Colorado here. You could make a good case either way, though; it should be a good matchup. The Buffaloes have won consecutive games but they’re not scoring terribly well these days. Colorado has hit 70 points in just one of their last five games and two of their last 10 outings. Utah is in something of the same boat scoring-wise; the Utes have 63 points or fewer in three of their last four. This game could go a lot of different ways, but it should be competitive and a fun one to watch regardless.
