The Davidson Wildcats and the VCU Rams meet Saturday in college basketball action from Siegel Center. Davidson is 9-6 so far this year. The Wildcats beat Loyola IL in their last game. As for VCU, they’re 10-5 following a loss to Duquesne on Wednesday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Davidson went 7-3 over their first 10 games, losing to Charleston, Charlotte and Delaware along the way. Since then it’s been a 2-3 run for the Wildcats; they’ve lost to Northeastern, Dayton and Loyola IL in that time.

In the Loyola matchup on Wednesday, the Wildcats were up 33-30 by halftime. Davidson hit a nice 47-27 run in the second half and won it 80-57. Sam Mennenga led the team on 22 points and Foster Loyer added 21 points.

Over on the VCU side, they were 6-4 after 10 games, losing to Arizona State, Memphis, Temple and Jacksonville. The Rams would keep winning versus Radford, Northern Illinois, Navy and La Salle before a loss to Duquesne.

On Wednesday versus Duquesne, the Rams were down 37-22 by halftime. VCU got better in the second half with 48 points but still lost 79-70. Brandon Johns put up 22 points with six rebounds in the defeat.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with VCU in this one. The Rams had a bad first half in their last matchup versus a tough Duquesne team, but they’ve been doing pretty well lately. VCU has hit 70 points in every outing during this current 5-1 stretch and they should be able to post a decent showing in this game as well. As for Davidson, they can be a pretty feisty team and I like them to put up a good fight here. Should be a fun matchup, but I’m leaning VCU on the cover.
