Abilene Christian vs Sam Houston State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/24/21

The Sam Houston State Bearkats and the Abilene Christian Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Teague Special Events Center.

Sam Houston enters this one at 17-6 so far. The Bearkats have won four games in a row, most recently over Lamar. As for Abilene Christian, they’re 18-3 this year. The Wildcats have won seven straight and are coming off a victory over Texas A&M-CC. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Sam Houston State opened up the year with a sketchy 3-5 record, but they’ve been on a great run in their last 15 games. The Bearkats are 14-1 in that stretch, and since their last loss they’ve beaten Nicholls, SE Louisiana, Central Arkansas and Lamar.

In the 77-71 win over Lamar on Monday, Sam Houston State’s Zach Nutall led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds. Donte Powers added 17 points with two boards and two assists, and Demarkus Lampley put up 16 points with five boards and one assist.

Over on the Abilene Christian side, they’ve had a nice run this season as well. The Wildcats haven’t yet lost consecutive games, and they’re sitting on a seven-game win streak. In the last four the Wildcats have beaten Lamar, Houston Baptist and Texas A&M-CC.

In the 83-55 blowout win over the Islanders on February 13, Abilene Christian’s Clay Gayman led the way on 21 points with four assists and five rebounds. Kolton Kohl added 16 points with four rebounds, and Coryon Mason had 10 points with two rebounds.

Abilene Christian is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. The Wildcats are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 7-0 in their last seven overall.

Meanwhile, the Bearkats are 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 overall. Sam Houston State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven as an underdog and 6-2 ATS in the last eight as a favorite.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Abilene Christian here. The last time these teams met up wasn’t a great outing for the Wildcats, and they fell 64-57. Since then, Abilene Christian has amped up their offense, notching 75 or more points in seven straight games. This one will be another tight game and a fun one to watch. I like the Wildcats to get some revenge on a cover.
