Prairie View went 4-6 over their first 10 games this year, beating Kansas CC, North American, Washington State and Arkansas State. The Panthers are just 2-4 since then with victories over Grambling State and MS Valley State.

In the MS Valley State game on Saturday, the Panthers took a 31-28 lead into halftime. Prairie View posted a 36-32 run from there and took the win 67-60. Jeremiah Gambrell was the lead scorer on 22 points with eight rebounds.

Over on the AR-Pine Bluff side, they were 3-7 after 10 games this year, beating Champion Christian, Crowley’s Ridge and AR Baptist. The Lions are also 2-4 in their last six games with wins over Ecclesia and Texas Southern.

Matched up against Texas Southern on Saturday, the Lions trailed 36-29 by halftime. AR-Pine Bluff hit a 41-30 run from there and won it 70-66. Shaun Doss led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Prairie View A&M. Probably staying away, though. There’s not a ton of intrigue here between teams with a combined 11 wins, but it should be a competitive matchup at least. Prairie View is 2-1 in their last three games, and the lone loss came by just four points to Southern U. The Panthers have been scoring slightly better than AR-Pine Bluff lately; the Lions have routinely finished in the 50s over the last 10 games or so, but to be fair they’ve also faced some tricky teams in that time. Should be a fun matchup regardless.
