Ball State vs Miami-OH 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Ball State Cardinals meet Saturday, January 14 in college basketball action from Worthen Arena in Muncie. Miami-OH is 7-9 overall this year. The RedHawks beat Buffalo in their last game. As for Ball State, they’re sitting at 11-5 after a loss to Ohio. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00p ET.

Miami-OH kicked off the year at 5-7 with wins over Goshen, Little Rock, Jackson State, Calumet and Bellarmine. The RedHawks are 2-2 since then with losses to Central Michigan and Kent State in that time.

On Tuesday versus Buffalo, the RedHawks took a 37-34 lead into the break. Miami-OH posted a 54-46 run from there and won it 91-80. Mekhi Lairy (20 points; 11 assists) and Anderson Mirambeaux (18 points; 11 rebounds) each doubled up.

Over on the Ball State side, they were 8-4 after 12 games this year. The Cardinals lost to Indiana State, Vermont, San Jose State and Duquesne in that time. Ball State is 3-1 in their last four games with a lone loss to Ohio.

Back on Tuesday in the Ohio game, Ball State was up 29-26 by halftime. The Cardinals fell behind 50-42 in the second half and lost it 76-71. Jarron Coleman was the top team scorer with 17 points and four assists.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Ball State. The Cardinals had a bad second half against Ohio in their last game, and it broke a string of seven straight wins. The good news is that Ball State has been scoring very well lately; they’ve hit 70 or more points in eight of their last nine games. As for Miami-OH, they’ve been a mixed bag this year. The RedHawks have scored pretty well lately though, with 66 or more points in seven of their last eight games. I don’t think they’ll keep pace with Ball State, though.
