Bucknell vs Austin Peay 11/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Austin Peay Governors and the Bucknell Bison meet in college basketball action from the Ocean Center on Tuesday afternoon.

The Austin Peay Governors come into this game looking to build on their 74-59 win over Albany last time out. Shon Robinson leads the Governors in scoring with 15.3 PPG along with 5.8 RPG while Elijah Hutchins-Everett has 11.8 PPG with a team-high 6.3 RPG to lead the Governors on the boards as the only other double-digit scorer for Austin Peay up to this point in the year. Carlos Paez has also chipped in a team-high 2.5 APG to lead the Governors in the assist department. As a team, Austin Peay is averaging 65.6 points per game on 40.8% shooting from the field, 30.7% from behind the arc and 70.3% from the foul line this season.

The Bucknell Bison will try to build on a 66-65 win over Presbyterian in their last game. Xander Rice leads the Bison in scoring and assists with 16.5 PPG and 4 APG while Andre Screen has 13.8 PPG and 4.8 RPG this season. Elvin Edmonds IV has 10.8 PPG with 4 APG of his own to share the team lead in assists with the aforementioned Rice, while Alex Timmerman has 10.4 PPG with a team-high 5.5 RPG to lead the Bison on the glass and to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Bucknell up to this point in the year. As a team, Bucknell is averaging 75.8 points per game on 52.8% shooting from the field, 40.2% from three-point range and 70.3% from the foul line this season.

I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m leaning towards Bucknell. The Bison are just built slightly better to exploit the weakness of the Peay defense and while both teams have had issues defensively, the Bison simply shoot the ball a lot better from the floor, especially 2-point range where the Governors struggle to defend most. Give me Bucknell here.
