George Washington managed to beat Saint Francis in their first game, scoring 39 points in the first half on the way to a tight 75-72 victory. In game two versus Maryland, the Colonials had a one-point halftime edge but couldn’t hold it in a 71-64 loss.
Back on Saturday in game three versus UC San Diego, George Washington hit the skids. The Colonials could only find 19 first-half points and limped to a 75-55 blowout loss. Ricky Lindo was the leading team scorer on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Over on the Cal State Fullerton side, they took on Santa Clara in their first game. The Titans kept pace in the first half with a 37-35 deficit, but ultimately lost 84-77. The team’s top scorer was Vincent Lee with 18 points and nine boards.
In game two against San Jose State the Titans trailed 45-34 at halftime. CSU Fullerton put up a valiant effort in the second half but couldn’t get it done and lost 78-76. Latrell Wrightsell topped the team on 17 points with two boards and two assists.
CSUF is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 11-25-1 ATS in their last 37 at home. The over is 5-1 in the Titans’ last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Colonials are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. George Washington is 1-5 ATS in the last six overall.
PICK: I’m going to try CSU Fullerton here. This should be an interesting matchup regardless, though. The Titans shot well in their loss to San Jose State, notching 52.9 percent from the field with 18-of-21 from the line. CSUF couldn’t take advantage of the Spartans’ mistakes, though.
As for George Washington, they looked fairly solid in their first two games but posted a dud against UCSD. I like the Colonials to bounce back and be competitive here but miss out on a cover.
