Prairie View has been close in a couple of games this year but no luck yet. The losses have come to Saint Mary’s, San Francisco, Michigan, OK State, Texas Tech, Grand Canyon, LMU, SD State, Boise State and Wichita State.
In the Wichita State matchup, Prairie View was blown out 57-33 in the first half and 45-33 in the second for a 102-66 defeat. Jeremiah Gambrell led the team on 22 points while both Jawaun Daniels and Jeremiah Kendall added 10 points apiece.
Over on the Grambling State side, they started at 3-5 this year with wins over LA College, Morgan State and Jarvis Christian (TX). The Tigers have lost their last five to UConn, Incarnate Word, UAB, TCU and Southern Illinois.
Matched up against Southern Illinois back on December 28, the Tigers scored just 25 points in the first half on the way to a 75-64 loss. Tra’Michael Moton led the team on 13 points. Eric Parrish added 12 points with six rebounds.
The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in the last five at home and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 overall. Grambling State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven Monday games.
Meanwhile, Prairie View is 8-2-2 ATS in the last 12 versus a team with a losing straight-up record and the over is 5-0 in their last five overall. The over is 4-1 in Prairie View’s last five after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going to try Grambling State here, but probably staying away. If nothing else, this should be a reasonably competitive game. Grambling is going to need to find some scoring, though; the Tigers have been at 62 or fewer points in each of their last four outings.
As for Prairie View, they’ve had a few solid offensive outings this year in spite of the winless record. I like the Tigers to keep the pace for most of the game here, but I don’t think they’ll cover.
