Charleston Southern vs UNC Asheville Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/18/23

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the Charleston Southern Buccaneers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from CSU Field House. UNC Asheville is 13-6 overall this year. The Bulldogs beat Gardner-Webb in their last game. As for Charleston Southern, they’re 7-10 overall after a loss to Radford. UNC Asheville Bulldogs 

UNC Asheville was 9-5 after 14 games this year, losing to Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, NC Central, Dayton and Arkansas. The Bulldogs are 4-1 since then with wins over High Point, Campbell, Longwood and Gardner-Webb.
In the Gardner-Webb matchup on Saturday, the Bulldogs scored 29 points in the first half, 34 in the second and nine in overtire during a comeback win 72-67. Drew Pember was the leading scorer on 22 points and 19 rebounds. 

Charleston Southern Buccaneers

Over on the Charleston Southern side, they opened the year on a 5-9 run with wins over Toccoa Falls, Bethune-Cookman, Tennessee State, KY Christian and USC Upstate. The Buccaneers are 2-1 in their last three with a loss to Radford. 

On Saturday versus Radford, the Buccaneers were down 36-27 by halftime. Charleston Southern posted a 43-39 advantage from there but still lost 75-70. Claudell Harris led the team on 31 points and four rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs have been a mixed bag scoring-wise lately; UNC Asheville has hit 62 or fewer points in five of their last seven outings. That said, UNC Asheville has also allowed 67 or fewer in five of their last six games. As for Charleston Southern, they’ve scored 70 or more points in four of their last five outings. The Buccaneers should be able to keep pace in this one if they’re playing well, but I don’t think they’ll stay on top for the entire game.
