The USC Upstate Spartans will look to bounce back from a 78-60 loss at the hands of South Carolina in their season opener. Jalen Breazeale added 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting with a pair of steals and Jordan Gainey had 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting with a team-high 7 rebounds to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for the Spartans in the defeat. Jatayveous Watson also had 3 steals as well in the defeat for USC Upstate. The Spartans shot 40.4% from the field, 38.9% from three and 50% from the foul line in the losing effort.
The Charlotte 49ers will attempt to add to their 68-66 season-opening win over Monmouth in their last game. Clyde Trapp Jr. led the 49ers with 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 3 threes and 3 steals while Jahmir Young added 14 points with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals for the double-double. Aly Khalifa added 11 points with 5 boards and Austin Butler chipped in 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 5 rebounds and a pair of steals to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Charlotte in the win. As a team, Charlotte shot 38.2% from the field, 22.2% from three and 83.3% from the foul line in the win.
USC Upstate is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Friday games and 9-20 ATS in their last 29 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. I could see Charlotte covering this number, but I think the better play here is the under. I don’t see Charlotte tearing it up on offense and the Spartans are no offensive juggernaut either so give me the under in this spot.
