Morehead State Eagles

Morehead State managed a solid 21-10 record across the regular season campaign. The Eagles finished off on a nice five-game win streak, beating Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee State, Lindenwood, Eastern Illinois and TN-Martin along the way.

In their Ohio Valley Tournament game versus Southeast Missouri State, Morehead State entered the second half with a 34-29 advantage. The Eagles were outpaced 36-24 in the second however and lost 65-58. Mark Freeman led the team on 21 points.

Clemson Tigers

Over on the Clemson side, they hit a 22-9 record over the course of the regular season. The Tigers went 3-1 to finish up, beating Syracuse, NC State and Notre Dame. Clemson would then beat NC State in the first game of the ACC Tournament 80-54.

Matched up against Virginia back on Friday, the Tigers fell behind 37-25 by the break. Clemson didn’t end up getting any closer and lost 76-56 after a 39-31 second half. Hunter Tyson led the team on 15 points and PJ Hall added 13 points with 10 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with Clemson. The line’s a little too thick to mess around with, though. The Tigers didn’t play especially well against a tricky Virginia team in their last game. Clemson shot a sketchy 35.8 percent from the field in that one and got out-rebounded 38-35. That said, the Tigers had been playing well prior to that with 80 or more points scored in four of five games. As for Morehead State, they had a bad second half against SEMO in their tournament matchup, snapping a five-game win streak. The Eagles have been scoring pretty well lately otherwise, but I don’t think they’ll keep pace with Clemson if the Tigers get going.
