The Navy Midshipmen and the Colgate Raiders meet in college basketball action from the Cotterell Court on Thursday night.
The Navy Midshipmen will try to bounce back from a 74-63 loss to High Point last time out. Tyler Nelson leads the Midshipmen in scoring with 13.6 PPG along with 5.6 RPG while Daniel Deaver has 10.4 PPG with a team-high 5.8 RPG and 3.3 APG to lead the Middies in rebounding and assists as the only other double-digit scorer for Navy so far this season this season. As a team, Navy is averaging 72.6 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field, 40.4% from three and 71.3% from the foul line this season.
The Colgate Raiders will try to add to their 76-60 win over Lehigh last time out. Tucker Richardson leads the Raiders in scoring and assists with 15.5 PPG and 4.8 APG along with 3.9 RPG while Oliver Lynch-Daniels has 11.8 PPG and Keegan Records has 11.8 PPG with a team-high 5.9 RPG to lead the Raiders in rebounding. Braeden Smith has 12.1 PPG and 4.1 RPG, rounding out the group of double-digit scorers for Colgate up to this point in the season. As a team, Colgate is averaging 80.5 PPG on 51.2% shooting from the field, 41.5% from three and 69.5% from the foul line this season.
Navy is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games while the over is 15-2 in their last 17 games overall. Colgate is 15-6 ATS in their last 21 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 home games.
I get the case to be made on either side in this game, but the problem for Navy is that they really looked bad against High Point and I don’t see how that changes against Colgate who might be the team to beat in the Patriot League this season. I just think this one is all Colgate here, so I’ll lay it and play it with the Raiders in this one.
