The Davidson Wildcats and the Charleston Cougars meet in college basketball action from the TD arena on Thursday.
The Davidson Wildcats will look to remain unbeaten after picking up a 75-71 win over VMI las time out. Foster Loyer led the way with 17 points on 5 of 14 shoting with 4 threes and a team-high 5 assists whiie Grant Huffman added 15 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 4 assists. Connor Kochera and Desmond Watson each had 11 points with Kochera logging 3 threes while Watson had 4 rebounds. Sam Mennenga added 10 points with a team-high 6 rebounds to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Davidson in the win.
The Charleston Cougars will try to build on their 92-90 OT Win over Richmond last time out. Reyne Smith added 29 points with 8 threes while Dalton Bolon added 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting and Babacar Faye added 11 points with a team-high 10 rebounds for the double-double to cap off the scoring in double figures for Charleston in the win. Jaylon Scott added 8 points with a team-high 7 assists and 3 steals as well.
Davidson is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Charleston is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 games overall.
I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards Charleston being at home and the fact that I feel they’ve done well against the much tougher schedule so far this season. Davidson’s a solid team that’s going to challenge in the A-10 this season, but I just feel that right now, in this game, Charleston’s the play.
