Stanford Cardinal

Stanford got off to a bad start in the record column, posting a rough 5-11 through 16 games this year. Since then the Cardinal are 5-1 however, taking wins over Oregon State, Oregon, Chicago State, California and Utah in succession.

Matched up against Utah on Thursday, the Cardinal hit a 46-31 advantage in the first half. Stanford fell behind on a 41-32 second-half run but still won it 78-72. Spencer Jones was the lead team scorer with 22 points and five rebounds.

Colorado Buffaloes

Over on the Colorado side, they were 10-6 at the 16-game mark this year. The Buffaloes are 3-5 in their last eight with losses to USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon and Oregon State. The wins came versus Oregon State, Washington State and California.

On Thursday versus California, Colorado took a 27-24 deficit into the locker room. The Buffaloes hit back on a 35-17 second-half run and won it 59-46 in comeback fashion. Tristan da Silva led the way on 20 points and two rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll lean Stanford in this one, but you could probably make a case either way. The last time these teams met back on December 29 at Maples Pavilion, the Buffaloes took a tense 73-70 victory. Stanford had a four-point halftime lead but ultimately blew it. Both teams shot pretty well in that one and each had 30-plus rebounds. Stanford has been playing well over this five-game win streak, and if they can keep that momentum going I can see the Cardinal pulling out a road cover (and possibly even a victory). Should be a great matchup.
