Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

Hawaii hit a 17-7 run over their first 24 games this year. Since then the Warriors are 5-3 with wins over UC San Diego, Long Beach State, CSU Bakersfield, UC Irvine and CSU Northridge. The losses were to CSU Fullerton, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara.

In the UC Santa Barbara game on Saturday, the Warriors were drilled 46-26 in the first half alone. Hawaii kept the pace on a 35-35 run from there but still lost 81-61. Noel Coleman led the team on 15 points with three rebounds.

CSU Fullerton Titans

Over on the CSU Fullerton side, they managed a .500 run over their first 24 games at 12-12 overall. The Titans beat UC Riverside, Hawaii, UC San Diego, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara and CSU Bakersfield to finish off the year (with a couple of cancellations mixed in).

Back on February 25 versus CSU Bakersfield, the Titans scored 32 points in the first half, 28 in the second and 10 in overtime during a 70-66 win. Max Jones was the leading team scorer on 17 points and three rebounds, and Jalen Harris added 15 points.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with CSU Fullerton here. The Titans haven’t been on the court for a while (February 25), and they’ve played just one game since February 20 due to roster availability cancellations from UC Davis and UC San Diego. Otherwise, it’s been a nice run over this six-game win streak. The Titans won both games with Hawaii this year, 79-72 at home on January 7 and 52-51 on February 11 at Stan Sheriff Center. Hawaii’s got a couple of rough outings in their last four games, but I like the Warriors to be competitive here. I still think it’s the Titans’ cover/win to take, though.
