The Vermont Catamounts and the Dartmouth Big Green meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Leede Arena. Vermont is coming off a Sunday matchup versus Merrimack. In that one the Catamounts took a blowout win. As for Dartmouth, they’re sitting at 4-5 overall after a win over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. Vermont went just 1-5 over their first six games this year. The losses in that time were to Saint Mary’s, CSU Fullerton, USC, Iona and Yale. After a win over Ball State, the Catamounts lost to UNCW and Long Beach State before another win over Lyndon State.

On Sunday versus Merrimack, Vermont took a 37-15 advantage going into the second half. The Catamounts kept the pace from there in a 66-43 win. Leading scorer Finn Sullivan put up 17 points, and TJ Hurley added 15 points.

Over on the Dartmouth side, they hit a 1-4 start this year that featured losses to Fordham, Bryant, Quinnipiac and Incarnate Word. The Big Green beat UTSA then lost to Grambling State before a win over Northern Vermont-Johnson in game eight.

On Saturday versus CSU Bakersfield, the Big Green managed another win. Dartmouth got out to a 40-28 halftime edge and took the win 79-54 after 39 second-half points. Ryan Cornish notched 18 points and Demi Adelekun doubled on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to take Dartmouth. Outside of a few rough games this year, the Big Green have performed quite well overall. Dartmouth has hit 70 or more points in seven of their nine games so far; they’re competitive in comparable matchups. The Big Green managed to shoot a nice 50 percent from the field and 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from 3-point range in their win over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. Dartmouth should be able to put up another solid offensive performance versus Vermont, and I think they’ll cover.
