The UMass Minutemen and the Davidson Wildcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Belk Arena. UMass is 7-7 on the season and coming off a loss to Duquesne. UMass managed to go 7-5 over their first 12 games, notching wins over UMBC, Penn State, UNC Greensboro, UMass Lowell, Rutgers, Harvard and Fairfield in that time. Over the last two games it’s been a loss to Richmond then another loss to Duquesne.

In the Duquesne game back on Saturday, UMass kept pace with a one-point deficit at halftime. The Minutemen fell behind 47-44 from there in a 78-74 loss. Leading scorer CJ Kelly put up 19 points, and Rich Kelly added 16 points with four assists.

Over on the Davidson side, they lost two of their first three games to San Francisco and New Mexico State. Since then it’s been a string of wins over Penn, East Carolina, Robert Morris, Charlotte, William & Mary, Northeastern, Radford, Alabama, Johnson & Wales, Saint Joseph’s and Rhode Island.

In the Rhode Island game, the Wildcats outscored the Rams 37-33 in the second half to take the 72-68 win. Foster Loyer topped the team on 19 points with four rebounds and five assists. Luka Brajkovic chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds.

Davidson is 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 37-17-1 ATS in their last 55 Tuesday games. The Wildcats are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 as a favorite.

Meanwhile, the Minutemen are 1-8 ATS in their last nine road games and 5-2 ATS in the last seven Tuesday games. The over is 13-3 in UMass’ last 16 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Davidson. The Wildcats have been on a great run since mid-November and they’re scoring very well. Davidson has hit 70 points in each of their last 11 outings and shouldn’t have too much trouble putting up points here.

As for UMass, they’ve done pretty well offensively themselves lately. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one as a fairly high total, and I like Davidson on the eventual cover.
