Delaware vs Hofstra 12/29/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Hofstra Pride and the Delaware Blue Hens meet in college basketball action from the Bob Carpenter Center on Thursday night.

The Hofstra Pride will look to build on their 96-48 win over subdivision SUNY-Old Westbury. Aaron Estrada leads the Pride in scoring and rebounding with 21.6 PPG and 3.9 APG with 5.3 RPG as well while Tyler Thomas has 12.2 PPG and Darlinstone Dubar has 12.3 PPG with 5.2 RPG to lead the cap off Hofstra’s double-digit scorers up to this point in the season. As a team, Hofstra is averaging 72.3 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field, 36.4% from three and 75.7% from the foul line this season.

The Delaware Blue Hens will look to rebound from a 95-78 loss to Ohio at home last time out. Jameer Nelson Jr. leads the Blue Hens in scoring and assists with 19.8 PPG and 3.1 APG with 5 RPG as well while Jyare Davis has 16.6 PPG with 4.9 RPG and 3.5 APG this season. L.J. Owens also has 10.5 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Delaware up to this point in the season while Christian Ray also has a team-high 9.6 RPG to lead Delaware in rebounding up to this point in the season. As a team, Delaware is averaging 71.5 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field, 31.8% from three and 70% from the foul line this season.

Hofstra is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a win by 20+ points and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. Delaware is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m rolling with Hofstra here. The Pride have been decent enough on the road and more importantly, head-to-head, the Pride have covered in each of the last three meetings against Delaware. I like this Delaware team, but I just feel like Hofstra is the better team here. Give me the Pride in this one.
