The UNC Wilmington Seahawks and the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens meet Saturday in college basketball action from Bob Carpenter Center. UNC Wilmington is coming off a Thursday game versus Drexel. The Seahawks ended up winning by six. As for Delaware, they played Charleston in their Thursday matchup. In that one, the Hens lost a tough one by three points. UNC Wilmington started out just 3-5 this year, but then hit a 12-game win streak that brought the team to 15-5. The Seahawks went 4-3 over their next seven games with wins versus William & Mary (twice), Charleston and James Madison.

On Thursday versus Drexel, UNC Wilmington went into the break tied at 30 points apiece. The Seahawks hit a 39-33 run in the second for a 69-63 win. Jaylen Sims put up 17 points, and Tan White doubled up on 14 points with 11 rebounds.

Over on the Delaware side, they’ve been on a good run during this calendar year and have yet to lose consecutive games in 2022. The Hens began February with a 4-2 stretch containing wins over Northeastern, James Madison, Elon and William & Mary.

Matched up against Charleston on Thursday, the Hens were outscored 32-49 in the first half. Delaware made a 64-50 run in the second but couldn’t catch back up in a 99-96 loss. Ryan Allen led the team on 28 points and four assists.

The Hens are 2-7 ATS in their last nine at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Delaware is 5-0 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 12-2 ATS in the last 14 after an ATS win. The over is 6-0 in UNCW’s last six Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to try Delaware in this one. The Hens had a bad first half in their last matchup versus Charleston, and they were nearly able to come back from the big deficit. Delaware has scored 71 or more points in four straight games, and we should see a pretty good total here.

The last time these teams met up on New Year’s Eve, the Seahawks managed a 70-68 win at home. I like Delaware to bounce back from their last game and post a cover in this one. Should be a good matchup and a fun one to watch regardless.
