The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and the Denver Pioneers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Hamilton Gymnasium. Oral Roberts is coming off a loss to Kansas City which dropped the Eagles to 5-7 on the year. As for Denver, they’ve won three straight games at 9-5 following a victory over Omaha on Friday. Let’s get into our Oral Roberts vs. Denver prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
The Eagles have been on a pretty choppy run this year and unable to win more than two consecutive games. Oral Roberts started the year on a 4-4 run with losses to TX-Arlington, Missouri State, Texas A&M and Kansas State. Since then it’s been losses to Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas City in a four-game stretch.
Back on Friday versus Kansas City, the Golden Eagles were pretty flat. Oral Roberts exited the break with a 38-23 deficit and didn’t end up getting any closer in a 77-60 loss. Issac McBride topped the team with 21 points in the defeat, and Kareem Thompson chipped in 14 points with four rebounds.
Denver Pioneers
Over on the Denver side, they won just two of their first five games versus Cal Poly and Nicholls. The Pioneers have been on a nice 7-2 run in their last nine games though, taking out Colorado Christian, Texas A&M-Commerce, Idaho, Colorado College, Adams State, Northern New Mexico and Omaha in that run.
Matched up against Omaha in their latest game, the Pioneers faced a three-point deficit by the break. Denver came back with a 55-37 run in the second half and powered out the victory 95-80. Leading the team was Tommy Bruner with 25 points and eight assists. Touko Tainamo added 20 points and 12 boards as well.
ANDREW’S FREE ORAL ROBERTS VS DENVER PREDICTION
I’m staying with Denver. The Pioneers started out a bit slow versus Omaha in their latest outing, then really buckled down for the comeback win to stay hot. Denver shot 54.2 percent from the field in that one with 36 rebounds and 14 team assists. That makes 80 or more points in five of the last six games for the Pioneers, who should post a solid total here also.
As for Oral Roberts, they’ve been at 60 points in two of their last three games. The Eagles can score pretty well this year in the right matchups, but I don’t think they’ll quite be able to cover/win in this one if Denver continues to play well.
