Butler managed a pretty solid 8-4 run through their first dozen games this year, but they’ve only won four games since December 29. After dropping to Xavier, St. John’s and Creighton this month, the Bulldogs managed a win over Marquette in their last game.
On Saturday versus Marquette, the Bulldogs surged to a 42-27 halftime lead. Butler was outscored 43-52 in the second half but still held on for the 85-79 win. Bryce Golden led the wya on 22 points with a pair of rebounds.
Over on the DePaul side, they hit a 9-1 run to start the year but they’ve only won three games since December 14. The Blue Demons had consecutive victories going over Xavier and Georgetown but fell over the weekend to Providence in OT.
Matched up against the Friars on Saturday, the Demons couldn’t hang on to a 28-24 halftime lead and needed overtime to decide the game. DePaul ultimately lost 76-73, however. David Jones led the team on his 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Demons are 4-0 ATS in their last four at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. DePaul is 1-5 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 4-1 in Butler’s last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Butler here. The Bulldogs have been pretty shaky on this 3-3 run, but there are plenty of positives to take from it. Butler has hit 72 or more points in three of those games, and each loss came by three points or fewer. The last time these teams met way back on December 29, Butler pulled off a 63-59 road win. I like this one to feature a higher points total, with Butler powering out the cover. Should be a fun matchup.
