DePaul vs Marquette 3/2/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Marquette Golden Eagles and the DePaul Blue Demons meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Wintrust Arena. Marquette is sitting at 18-10 on the year and coming off a win versus Butler. As for DePaul, they’re currently 14-14 overall. The Blue Demons beat St. John’s in their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Marquette was 8-6 back on New Year’s Day, then hit a seven-game win streak that lasted into late January. The Eagles are just 3-4 since then, however. The wins in that time have come versus Villanova, Georgetown and Butler.

Matched up against Butler on Saturday, the Eagles had a three-point deficit at halftime. Marquette surged on a 34-23 run from there in a 64-56 comeback win. Darryl Morsell led the team on his 16 points and four rebounds.

Over on the DePaul side, their year started at 9-1 but the team would win just one game from December 14 to February 5. It’s been a 4-4 run for the Demons since then with wins over Xavier, Georgetown (twice) and St. John’s.

On Sunday in the St. John’s game, the Blue Demons were up 47-41 going into the second half. DePaul managed 52 more points from there in a 99-94 victory. Javon Freeman-Liberty led the way on his 39 points with eight rebounds.

The Blue Demons are 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS win. DePaul is 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 0-5 ATS in their last five overall. The under is 5-1 in Marquette’s last six Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Marquette here. Probably not going near this one, though; neither team is all that consistent these days. In any case, the Eagles have still been scoring well over this 3-4 stretch. They’ve hit 72 or more points in four of their last five games and should throw up a good total here.

The last time these teams met up on January 11, Marquette posted an 87-76 home victory. I like this rematch to be tight most of the way, with Marquette eking out a late cover.
