The Ohio Bobcats and the Detroit Mercy Titans meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Calihan Hall. Ohio is 1-1 so far this season. The Bobcats took their first win over Cleveland State on Saturday. As for Detroit, they’re currently 1-1 following a loss to Boston College in their last game. Ohio had a dramatic opener matchup versus Belmont last Monday. The Bobcats were down 41-34 at the break, but made a game of it in an eventual 70-69 defeat. Ohio’s Dwight Wilson led the way in scoring with 20 points and eight rebounds.

In game two against Cleveland State, Ohio had much better luck. The Bobcats scored 38 points in the first half and 43 more from there in an 81-70 win. Jaylin Hunter topped the team on 17 points, seven assists and four boards.

Over on the Detroit side, they opened up the season with a very manageable matchup against Rochester College. The Titans were up 46-35 by the break and cruised to the 93-65 win. Antoine Davis managed 28 points, and Jayden Stone doubled with 15 points and 12 boards. Jordan Phillips also notched a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Detroit took on Boston College in game two, and the Titans were up 34-33 by halftime. Detroit faded in the second half however, and lost 70-66. Stone led the way on 22 points, and Davis managed 15 points with three assists.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Detroit. Overall this should be a pretty good matchup regardless, though. The Titans posted some reasonable stats totals against Boston College in their first loss of the year, with 40 percent from the field and 40 rebounds. Detroit was hurt by 17 turnovers and 21 fouls, though. As for Ohio, they’ve been scoring pretty well and have been competitive in two games so far. I like this one to be close most of the way as well. Should be a fun one.
