Hampton Pirates

Hampton was 3-11 through 14 games this year, beating Regent VA, Howard and Loyola MD. The Pirates have lost four straight games since then, falling to Hofstra, Northeastern, William & Mary and NC A&T.

In the NC A&T matchup on Monday, the Pirates were down 42-30 by the break. Hampton kept the pace with 37 second-half points but ended up losing 79-67. Jordan Nespitt led the team on 18 points, and Kyrese Mullen had 17 rebounds.

Drexel Dragons

Over on the Drexel side, they were 8-6 after 14 games. The Dragons lost to Penn, FGCU, Indiana State, Temple, Princeton and Seton Hall in that time. The Dragons are 2-2 in their last four with wins over Monmouth and Northeastern.

Back on Saturday versus Northeastern, the Dragons took a 44-28 lead into the half. Drexel posted a 32-27 second-half run and won the game 76-55. Both Garfield Turner and Amari Williams led the team with 12 points apiece.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to stick with Drexel. The Dragons are coming off a pretty painless blowout win over Northeastern, and despite the choppy 2-2 run over their last four games Drexel has been fairly competitive lately. In each of the last seven games, the Dragons have held opponents to 67 points or fewer; Drexel shouldn’t have a ton of trouble with Hampton, either. The Pirates haven’t cracked 67 points in six straight games and probably won’t put up much of a fuss in this one.
