Duke vs Coastal Carolina Prediction

I’ll probably stick with Duke I suppose. The Blue Devils shot a nice 49 percent from the field and 85 percent (22-of-26) from the line in their blowout win over Army this week, but they were pretty abysmal from 3-point range at 18 percent (4-of-22). Duke won the rebounding battle 37-28 though, and benefitted from 24 Army turnovers. They led for 99 percent of the game so there wasn’t ever really a question of the outcome. In another comfy home matchup Thursday, the only real question is Duke’s margin of victory.

As for the Chanticleers, they put up a fairly mediocre 29 percent from 3-point range (7-of-24) and a fairly rough 69 percent (11-of-16) from the line alongside 43 percent shooting from the field in their one-point loss to Eastern Michigan. Coastal Carolina did lead for the majority of the game though (63 percent) and won the rebounding battle 40-32. The 13 turnovers (to the Eagles’ seven) didn’t help matters. The Chanticleers have an extremely difficult road matchup on their hands here and the game likely won’t be anywhere close. The final score just depends on when Duke decides to lay off in garbage time.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Betting Preview

Coastal Carolina had a decent run last year. The Chanticleers went 19-13 overall with an 11-7 finish in the Sun Belt. That would give the Chanticleers a much-better-than-expected third-place finish behind only Troy and Marshall in the standings. Coastal Carolina finished off the regular season on a nice 5-1 run and were cooking as they headed into the Sun Belt Tournament. In the first game however, the Chanticleers lost to Georgia Southern.

This year Coastal Carolina has one game in the bag so far, a matchup at the HTC Center on Monday. In that one the Chanticleers took a tough loss 71-70 in front of just under 2,000 fans. Coastal Carolina was led by Trey Perry with 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and four turnovers in 32 minutes of work. Jaylen Cross added 10 points with eight boards and Darius Washington came off the bench to contribute 13 points, two boards and two assists in 27 minutes.

Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Duke side, they did quite a bit of damage on the national stage last season but fell short of their ultimate goal. The Blue Devils rolled through the regular season with a 35-3 record and a stellar 17-1 in the ACC. Duke finished as regular-season champions, then beat Florida State, Clemson and Virginia for conference tournament championship. The Blue Devils dispatched Siena, TCU and St. John’s in the NCAA Tournament before a loss to UConn in the Elite Eight.

Duke has a blowout victory on their card already after taking out Army at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday. The Blue Devils won that one 84-50. Tops on the team was Dame Sarr with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje finished with 15 points and seven boards alongside three blocks, while Patrick Ngongba added 10 points with seven rebounds in the winning effort for the Blue Devils.
