The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks and the Eastern Washington Eagles meet Thursday in college basketball action from Reese Court. Northern Arizona enters this game at 7-20 overall following a loss to Portland State over the weekend. As for Eastern Washington, they’re sitting at 19-7 so far following a win over Idaho. Northern Arizona Lumberjacks

Northern Arizona got off to a rough start this year, going just 5-15 through their first 20 games. The Lumberjacks are just 2-5 in their last seven games, falling to Eastern Washington, Montana State, Montana, Idaho State and Portland State in that time.

In the Portland State matchup on Saturday, Northern Arizona took a 43-39 deficit into the break. The Lumberjacks hit a 48-45 advantage from there but still lost 88-87. Xavier Fuller was the leading scorer on 18 points and seven rebounds.

Eastern Washington Eagles

Over on the Eastern Washington side, they posted a 12-7 run across their first 19 games of the year. The Eagles have since continued the win streak versus Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, Idaho State, Weber State, Sacramento State, Portland State and Idaho.

On Saturday versus Idaho, the Eagles went into halftime with a 31-30 lead. Eastern Washington posted a 42-36 advantage in the second for a 73-66 win. Ethan Price scored 16 points and Tyreese Davis doubled on 12 points and 10 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with Eastern Washington in this one. Probably staying away, though. The Eagles are on a great run during this 15-game win streak. Eastern Washington has hit 70 or more points in all but one of those games, so they should be primed for a big total here at home as well. The last time these teams met up on January 21 at Findlay Toyota Center, the Eagles powered out a 79-76 road win. With the change in venue I like Eastern Washington to roll to a big win and a cover, but you could make a case for the Lumberjacks sneaking in there.
